One of our staff favorites in the sale! This scene captures a private moment between two friends or relatives. One reading the day's mail and another rummaging through her book collection. The setting is entirely Victorian with an Oriental rug, Classical relief sculpture, paisley curtains and bustled dresses of beautiful fabrics. This is one of those paintings where you can keep looking and looking!

Spanish (1881-1973) Jacqueline color lithograph on pink japon nacre paper, signed and dated in the plate lower right "Picasso 14.8.58," signed in pencil lower right and numbered in pencil lower left "60/100" 15 x 22 1/2 inches

Estimate $4,000-6,000


We have handled dozens of Picasso prints in past auctions, but this one truly stands out. It is a great size and has lots of fun and engaging colors. It's a great conversation piece and is ready to hang. It was expertly framed and matted in a matte black contemporary frame.

This small oil painting has all of the elements of a larger Berman work, the architectural setting, classical references and Berman's unique way of bringing the viewer into a parallel universe. This painting is a great buy for new and seasoned collectors and definitely a gem in our sale!
